Venados melómanos y cazadores lúbricos: cacería, música y erotismo en Mesoamérica

Abstract

"The article explores the erotic dimension of hunting in Mesoamerica, as well as the ties between hunting, warfare, and sacrifice. It describes the connections between hunters and their prey that follow a model based on marriage linked to an amorous conquest in which music plays a key role. Meanwhile, the deer appears as the prey par excellence and as a model of a sacrificial offering comparable to a human victim. The combination of female characteristics attributed to deer and to sacrificial victims with fertility traits that are also assigned to them is analyzed within the framework of the identification of the hunter and his prey, as well as between the individual making the sacrifice and the sacrificial victim."

"El artículo analiza la dimensión erótica de la cacería en Mesoamérica, así como los nexos entre la cacería, la guerra y el sacrificio. Se describen las relaciones entre los cazadores y sus presas que siguen un modelo matrimonial y se emparentan a una conquista amorosa en la cual la música desempeña un papel importante. A la vez, el venado aparece como presa de caza por excelencia y como modelo de la ofrenda sacrificial equiparada con una víctima humana. La combinación de características femeninas atribuidas a los cérvidos y a las víctimas sacrificiales con los rasgos fecundadores que también les son asignados se analiza en el marco del proceso de identificación entre el cazador y su presa de caza, así como entre el sacrificante y el sacrificado."
