Abstract

This study presents the paleographic transcription and Spanish translation of chapters four and five of Book VI of the Florentine Codex, focused on pre-Hispanic indigenous medicine. Miguel León-Portilla interprets the original Nahuatl text compiled by Fray Bernardino de Sahagún and his indigenous collaborators, describing diseases, treatments, and healing practices. The work reveals the Nahua people's deep medical knowledge and their cosmological understanding integrated into therapeutic activity

Este trabajo presenta la paleografía y traducción de los capítulos cuarto y quinto del libro VI del Códice florentino, centrados en la medicina indígena prehispánica. Miguel León-Portilla ofrece una interpretación del texto náhuatl recogido por fray Bernardino de Sahagún y sus colaboradores indígenas, describiendo enfermedades, tratamientos y prácticas curativas. La investigación revela el profundo conocimiento médico de los nahuas, así como su cosmovisión integrada en el quehacer terapéutico
