Abstract
This review explores Everyday Life in the Aztec World, in which Frances F. Berdan and Michael E. Smith reconstruct the daily experiences of various Nahua characters before European contact. Drawing on archaeological, pictographic, and alphabetic sources, the authors present six fictional yet historically grounded individuals—a tlatoani, priest, artisan, merchant, farmer, and slave—and narrate their lives through key life-cycle events such as birth, marketplace visits, judicial encounters, and warfare. The volume skillfully balances scholarly accuracy with accessible storytelling, offering a holistic view of Mexica society. Despite the methodological challenges posed by hybrid sources, the book serves as a valuable and humanizing introduction to pre-Hispanic Aztec life Esta reseña examina el libro Everyday Life in the Aztec World, donde Frances F. Berdan y Michael E. Smith reconstruyen la vida cotidiana de diversos personajes nahuas antes del contacto con los europeos.
