Abstract

It focuses particularly on the uprising of January 15, 1624, which resulted in the fall of Viceroy Diego Pimentel, Marquis of Gelves. By pardoning those involved in these disturbances, the monarchy sought not only to pacify the region but also to consolidate its authority by acknowledging the loyalty of its subjects.
