Redes empresariales y administración estatal: la provisión de materiales estratégicos en el mundo hispánico durante el largo siglo XVIII

Abstract

The studies compiled in this book stem from the work of the international research group Red Imperial-Contractor State Group and were presented, in their preliminary version, at the 18th Congress of the International Economic History Association, held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States. Their chronological framework seeks to emphasize the administrative, financial, and technological continuities between the systems of strategic resource mobilization employed by the Habsburg dynasty and the various forms of Bourbon reformism in each of the institutions, industries, or technological processes studied. Similarly, the work aims to understand the functioning of the administration of strategic industries at the end of the Old Regime and during the process of imperial disintegration at the beginning of the 19th century. Taken together, the twelve studies offer diverse perspectives on how the Hispanic monarchy sought to solve the problem of financing, production or administration of strategic resources, generating a fluctuating balance between state administration and the interests and capabilities of productive groups from different regions of the Hispanic world in Europe, America and Asia.

Los estudios reunidos en este libro se derivan del trabajo del grupo de investigación internacional Red Imperial-Contractor State Group y fueron presentados, en su versión preliminar, en el XVIII Congreso de la International Economic History Association que tuvo lugar en el Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts, Estados Unidos de América. Su marco cronológico busca enfatizar las continuidades administrativas, financieras y tecnológicas entre los sistemas de movilización de recursos estratégicos empleados por la dinastía Habsburgo y las distintas variantes del reformismo borbónico en cada una de las instituciones, industrias o procesos tecnológicos estudiados. De igual forma, la obra tiene por objetivo comprender el funcionamiento de la administración de industrias estratégicas en el ocaso del Antiguo Régimen y durante el proceso de desintegración imperial de principios del siglo xix. En conjunto, los doce estudios ofrecen diversas perspectivas sobre la forma en que la monarquía hispánica buscó resolver el problema del financiamiento, la producción o la administración de recursos estratégicos, generando un fluctuante equilibrio entre la administración estatal y los intereses y capacidades de grupos productivos de distintas regiones del mundo hispánico tanto en Europa como en América y Asiacomercio.
