Abstract

This paper describes a green stone pectoral discovered in April 1978 in Cista 5 (Chamber 1) of the Templo Mayor of Tenochtitlan, beneath the Coyolxauhqui monolith. The piece, dated to the Late Postclassic period (1469-1481), features a complex human figure in relief on its reverse side, identified as a northern warrior and hunter in flight. The character's iconography includes a dart thrower, arrows, a matlahuacalli, a floral headdress, distinctive facial painting, and attire that has led to various interpretations, including associations with Coyolxauhqui, Atlahua, Mixcóatl, tzitzímitl, and a combination of Mixcóatl and Tezcatlipoca

este trabajo describe un pectoral de piedra verde descubierto en abril de 1978 en la Cista 5 (Cámara 1) del Templo Mayor de Tenochtitlan, bajo el monolito de Coyolxauhqui. La pieza, datada del Postclásico Tardío (1469-1481), presenta en su reverso una compleja figura humana en relieve, identificada como un guerrero y cazador de origen norteño en pleno vuelo. La iconografía del personaje incluye un lanzadardos, flechas, un matlahuacalli, un tocado floral, pintura facial distintiva y un atuendo que ha llevado a diversas interpretaciones, incluyendo asociaciones con Coyolxauhqui, Atlahua, Mixcóatl, tzitzímitl, y una combinación de Mixcóatl y Tezcatlipoca
