Small collections of Nahuatl manuscripts in the United States

Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive catalog and analysis of various Nahuatl manuscript collections, mainly legal, religious, and linguistic documents produced during the viceregal period in Mexico. Through detailed descriptions of indigenous petitions, land contracts, wills, and grammatical studies, it reveals the complex interactions between indigenous communities and colonial authorities. It also highlights efforts to preserve and study these texts as key testimonies of Nahuatl usage and colonial administration

Este artículo ofrece un exhaustivo catálogo y análisis de diversas colecciones de manuscritos en náhuatl, principalmente documentaciones legales, religiosas y lingüísticas producidas durante la época virreinal en México.
