Abstract

This text is a tribute to Miguel León-Portilla from the voices of Nahua students. Librado Silva Galeana recalls his first encounters with the scholar’s writings and how they sparked his interest in Nahuatl history and language. The article highlights the importance of the Nahuatl Culture Seminar as a space for training and exchange, where young Nahuas not only studied pre-Hispanic written traditions but also began producing new works in their mother tongue. It also emphasizes León-Portilla’s role in the creation of the Association of Writers in Indigenous Languages and in organizing community gatherings, which strengthened a network of writers and speakers committed to cultural and linguistic preservation

Este texto constituye un homenaje a Miguel León-Portilla desde la voz de estudiantes nahuas. Librado Silva Galeana relata sus primeros encuentros con los escritos del maestro y cómo éstos influyeron en su interés por la historia y la lengua náhuatl. Destaca la importancia del Seminario de Cultura Náhuatl como espacio de formación e intercambio, donde los jóvenes nahuas no solo conocieron la tradición escrita prehispánica, sino que también se animaron a producir nuevas obras en su lengua materna. Asimismo, se subraya el papel de León-Portilla en la creación de la Asociación de Escritores en Lenguas Indígenas y en la organización de encuentros comunitarios, lo que consolidó una red de escritores y hablantes comprometidos con la preservación cultural y lingüística
