Entre Trujillo y Córdoba. Los tratados y las independencias de 1820 y 1821

Abstract

Los Tratados de Córdoba no han recibido la suficiente atención historiográfica y esta conferencia busca entender su importancia recuperando su dimensión política y diplomática en una perspectiva genuinamente hispanoamericana. Las particularidades de sus firmantes revelan implicaciones y características de la etapa definitiva de los procesos independentistas. Este acercamiento busca entablar una comparación entre los Tratados de Córdoba (Nueva España, 1821) y el Tratado de armisticio de Trujillo (Venezuela, 1820) para resaltar la forma en la cual el gobierno de la monarquía española constitucional asumió las negociaciones con los movimientos rebeldes americanos

The Treaties of Córdoba have not received sufficient historiographical attention, and this conference seeks to understand their importance by recovering their political and diplomatic dimension from a genuinely Hispanic American perspective. The particularities of their signatories reveal implications and characteristics of the final stage of the independence process. This approach seeks to establish a comparison between the Treaties of Córdoba (New Spain, 1821) and the Trujillo Armistice Treaty (Venezuela, 1820) to highlight the way in which the government of the Spanish constitutional monarchy assumed negotiations with the American rebel movements
