Abstract

This review analyzes Claude Stresser-Péan's work on indigenous clothing in Mexico from a historical and anthropological perspective. The book presents extensive documentation and comparative insight into textiles, garments, hairstyles, ornaments, and manufacturing techniques used in Mesoamerica from pre-Hispanic times to the present. It highlights the ritual symbolism of clothing and cultural continuity in communities like the Otomi. The volume includes unpublished illustrations and a documentary film on curved weaving. La reseña evalúa la obra de Claude Stresser-Péan sobre la indumentaria indígena en México desde una perspectiva histórica y antropológica. El libro estudia, con abundante documentación y una mirada comparativa, los textiles, vestimentas, peinados, adornos y técnicas de confección utilizadas en Mesoamérica desde tiempos prehispánicos hasta la actualidad.
