Dos parcialidades étnicas en Azcapotzalco: Mexicapan y Tepanecapan

Abstract

This study consists of an overview of Azcapotzalco’s history from the 13th till the second half of the 16th century. Issues that will be analyzed are its foundation, its internal organization, the origin of the its two ethnic parcialidades, Tepanecapan and Mexica-pan, and the reconstruction of the governing lineages. These are important to understand, from a historical perspective, the ways in which certain persons from Azcapotzalco responded to historical events, which will be discussed in the final reflections

El presente trabajo hace un recorrido por la historia de Azcapotzalco, desde el siglo XIII hasta la segunda mitad del siglo XVI. En él se analizan cuestiones como el significado de su fundación, su organización interna, el origen de sus dos parcialidades étnicas (Tepanecapan y Mexicapan) y la reconstrucción de los linajes que gobernaron en ellas. Aspectos muy importantes para comprender, desde una perspectiva histórica, el modo de actuación de algunos personajes vinculados con Azcapotzalco, ante ciertos eventos históricos. De esto también se hablará en este trabajo, a modo de reflexión final
