Abstract

The chapter entitled "The Financing of Military Foramina in the Greater Hispanic Caribbean during the Long 18th Century, 1698-1808" analyzes the structure and evolution of military and naval expenditures in the Spanish possessions of the Caribbean. It explores aspects such as the region's geographical characteristics, the importance of ports and fortifications, and the financial resources necessary for maintaining military forces. Throughout the text, the impacts of international conflicts and periods of peace on taxation and expenditure distribution are highlighted. The author proposes to contribute to the understanding of the fiscal-military state by integrating the American experience within the context of studies conducted on Europe during the same period.

El capítulo titulado "El financiamiento de las plazas militares del Gran Caribe Hispano en el largo siglo XVIII, 1698-1808" analisa la estructura y evolución de los gastos militares y navales en las posesiones españolas del Caribe. Se exploran aspectos como las características geográficas de la región, la importancia de los puertos y fortificaciones, y los recursos financieros necesarios para el mantenimiento de fuerzas militares. A lo largo del texto, se destacan los impactos de los conflictos internacionales y períodos de paz en la tributación y distribución de los gastos. La autora propone contribuir al entendimiento del Estado fiscal-militar, integrando la experiencia americana en el contexto de los estudios realizados sobre Europa en el mismo período
