Códice Xolotl

Abstract

The first 126 pages of this book are a detailed study of each one of the sheets of the codex. It is a post conquest document; therefore, it is a blend of alphabetical writing, glyphs, and Nahuatl writing. The codex tells the arrival of the chichimecas and his ruler Xolotl to the Northern part of the Valley of Mexico and the foundation of Texcoco by their descendants. This masterpiece includes an index of Nahua words and etymology of the persons and places named in the codex.

Las primeras ciento veintiséis páginas son un estudio detallado de cada una de las láminas del Códice. Este fue pintado a raíz de la conquista y en él se conjugan escritura, glifos y escritura alfabética en náhuatl. Trata de la llegada de los chichimecas de Xólotl, de su aculturación al entrar en contacto con los grupos nahuas que allí vivían y, por último, de la fundación de la casa real de Tezcoco por los hijos y descendientes de Xólotl.
