Abstract

"The article analyzes the glosses of the pictographic document known as the Codex Borbonicusas a whole and in relation to the pictographic images. The mantic and liturgical content of the manuscript, expressed in the short alphabetical texts written by Spaniards based on consultations with Indigenous scholars, reflects the proximity of the Codex Borbonicus to contemporary texts such as the so-called transcribed codices or later documents in Spanish and Nahuatl, such as the work of Sahagún and the Codex Telleriano-Remensis. All these sources are fundamental in the interpretation of the glosses of the Codex Borbonicus in its historical and cultural context"

"El artículo analiza las glosas del documento pictográfico conocido como Códice borbónico en su conjunto y en relación con las imágenes pictográficas. El contenido mántico y litúrgico del manuscrito, expresado en los cortos textos alfabéticos redactados por españoles a partir de la consulta con sabios indígenas, refleja la cercanía del Códice borbónico a textos contemporáneos como los llamados códices transcritos u otros documentos en español y náhuatl de la época o de algunos años posteriores, como la obra de Sahagún y el Códice telleriano-remensis.
