Abstract

The article "The Spiritual War, the Religious Struggle" by Rudolf Van Zantwijk explores the cultural and philosophical clash following the Spanish conquest of the Mexican Empire. The author identifies two mentalities: the incorporative, promoted by the Aztec culture, which seeks to integrate and accept social differences; and the eliminative, typical of Spanish culture, which aims to suppress external elements. This distinction helps explain the interactions and conflicts between both cultures, as well as contemporary coexistence challenges stemming from these opposing mentalities. The text contributes to the study of Nahuatl worldview and offers a profound reflection on cultural resistance and assimilation in contexts of conquest and colonization

El artículo "La guerra espiritual, la lucha religiosa" de Rudolf Van Zantwijk analiza el choque cultural y filosófico ocurrido tras la conquista española del Imperio Mexicano. El autor distingue dos mentalidades: la incorporativa, promovida por la cultura azteca, que busca integrar y aceptar las diferencias sociales; y la eliminadora, propia de la cultura española, que tiende a suprimir elementos externos. Esta distinción permite entender las interacciones y conflictos entre ambas culturas, así como las dificultades de convivencia actuales derivadas de estas mentalidades contrapuestas.
