Abstract

This study compares the social and economic organization of the Incas in Peru and the Aztecs in Mexico during the 15th and 16th centuries. It analyzes aspects such as agricultural systems, use of tools, and political centralization, highlighting the greater efficiency of the Incan irrigation system and the community structure based on the Ayllu compared to the Aztec Calpulli. It also addresses social stratification, the role of the state, and commercial and artisanal institutions of both cultures, revealing significant differences and similarities in resource management and territorial administration. The text is a key contribution to understanding the complexities of these pre-Hispanic civilizations

Este estudio compara la organización social y económica de los Incas en Perú y los Aztecas en México durante los siglos XV y XVI. Analiza aspectos como los sistemas agrícolas, el uso de herramientas, y la centralización política, destacando la mayor eficacia del sistema de riego incaico y la estructura comunitaria basada en el Ayllu frente al Calpulli azteca. Además, aborda la división social, el papel del Estado, y las instituciones comerciales y artesanales de ambas culturas, evidenciando diferencias y similitudes significativas en el manejo de recursos y en la administración de sus territorios. El texto se presenta como un aporte clave para entender las complejidades de estas civilizaciones prehispánicas
