El uso de la forma reverencial en náhuatl de Santa Ana Tlacotenco

Abstract

The article explores the use of the reverential form in the Náhuatl language of Santa Ana Tlacotenco, located in the southeast of Mexico City. It examines how this linguistic modality expresses deep respect and courtesy towards certain interlocutors, especially elders and important social figures, by employing specific suffixes and particles to convey honor and distinction. The study also analyzes the complex verb structures and phonetic variations in the reverential form, as well as the role this language use plays in preserving the cultural and social fabric of the community

El artículo aborda el uso de la forma reverencial en el habla náhuatl de Santa Ana Tlacotenco, ubicada en el sureste del Distrito Federal. Estudia cómo esta modalidad lingüística refleja un profundo respeto y cortesía hacia ciertos interlocutores, especialmente ancianos y figuras sociales importantes, utilizando sufijos y partículas específicas para manifestar honor y distinción. Se examinan también las estructuras complejas de los verbos y las variaciones fonéticas en la forma reverencial, además del papel que desempeña este lenguaje en la preservación cultural y social de la comunidad
