El llamado complejo ceremonial del sureste y los posibles contactos entre Mesoamérica y la cuenca del Mississippi

Abstract

The article explores potential cultural and symbolic connections between Mesoamerican civilizations and the indigenous societies of the Southeastern United States and the Mississippi Basin. Through the analysis of ritual artifacts, iconography, and architecture, hypotheses are proposed regarding exchanges, influences, and cultural adaptations in a pre-Columbian context. Historical interpretations are also discussed, emphasizing the importance of a comparative approach to better understand the symbolism and ceremonial practices of both regions

El artículo explora las posibles conexiones culturales y simbólicas entre las civilizaciones mesoamericanas y las sociedades indígenas del Sureste y la Cuenca del Mississippi en Estados Unidos. A través del análisis de artefactos rituales, iconografía y arquitectura, se proponen hipótesis sobre intercambios, influencias y adaptaciones culturales en un contexto precolombino. Asimismo, se discuten las interpretaciones históricas previas y se plantea la importancia de un enfoque comparativo para comprender mejor el simbolismo y las prácticas ceremoniales de ambas regiones
