Abstract
This article critically examines the history of the production and shipment of the manuscripts by friar Bernardino de Sahagún, focusing on the existence of an alleged "Enríquez Manuscript" in addition to the well-known Florentine Codex. Through analysis of 16th-century letters and royal decrees, it is concluded that there is insufficient evidence to support the existence of a complete bilingual copy in Nahuatl and Spanish covering the twelve books of the General History different from the Florentine Codex.
