Abstract

This article provides a historiographical analysis of social movements in Mexico, focusing especially on anarchism and the working class between 1860 and 1931. It reviews how various scholars have studied indigenous rebellions and other social movements from the colonial period through the 20th century, emphasizing the need to move beyond partial approaches and develop new critical perspectives to understand the historical complexity of these phenomena. The article also highlights the role of labor organizations, their relationship with the state, and the challenges posed by translation and documentation of historical sources

Este artículo ofrece un análisis historiográfico de los movimientos sociales en México, centrado especialmente en el anarquismo y la clase obrera entre 1860 y 1931. Revisa cómo diversos investigadores han abordado las rebeliones indígenas y otros movimientos sociales desde la época colonial hasta el siglo XX, destacando la necesidad de superar enfoques parciales y consolidar nuevas perspectivas críticas para comprender la complejidad histórica de estos fenómenos. También se pone énfasis en el papel de las organizaciones obreras, su relación con el Estado y las limitaciones planteadas por la traducción y documentación de fuentes históricas.
