La labor geográfica de Antonio García Cubas en el Ministerio de Hacienda, 1868-1876

Abstract

This article analyzes the work undertaken by AntonioGarcía Cubas (1832-1912) in the years after 1867,during the period of the Restoration of the Republic.Between 1868 and 1876, the engineer worked at the Treasury and Public Finance Department, where he was in charge of drawing up fiscal statistics within the headquarters of Section 5 and prepared two administrative geographical maps that were extremely important at the time. Parallel to his activities as a government employee, he wrote articles on Mexican population and territory

En este artículo se analizan los trabajos emprendidos por Antonio García Cubas (1832-1912) durante los años posteriores a 1867, en el período de la Restauración de la República. Entre 1868 y 1876, el ingeniero trabajó en el Ministerio de Hacienda y Crédito Público; allí se encargó de elaborar la estadística fiscal dentro de la jefatura de la Sección 5a. y preparó dos cartas geográficas de carácter administrativo que tuvieron gran importancia para el momento; además, a la par de sus actividades como funcionario, escribió artículos sobre la población y el territorio mexicano
