Abstract
This review examines the Ritual Human Sacrifice in Mesoamerica, edited by Rubén G. Mendoza and Linda Hansen, which offers an updated synthesis on ritual human sacrifice in Mesoamerican contexts. Drawing on recent archaeological findings and new interpretative frameworks, the chapters explore both material evidence and historical sources, addressing religious, political, and cosmological aspects of the practice. Stan Declercq highlights the interdisciplinary richness of the book and its contribution to dismantling stereotypical views of Mesoamerican ritual Esta reseña examina el Ritual Human Sacrifice in Mesoamerica, editado por Rubén G. Mendoza y Linda Hansen, el cual ofrece una síntesis actualizada sobre el sacrificio humano en contextos rituales mesoamericanos. A partir de hallazgos arqueológicos recientes y nuevos enfoques interpretativos, los capítulos exploran tanto la evidencia material como las fuentes históricas, abordando aspectos religiosos, políticos y cosmológicos del sacrificio.
