Abstract

"The Mexican Economy in the 20th Century, offers an analysis of the main economic cycles that shaped the country's trajectory throughout the century, starting with the Mexican Revolution. Dr. Enrique Lomelí highlights the paradox that, despite its importance, this period has not been sufficiently studied. The lecture focuses on the years between 1933 and 1982, a stage during which Mexico experienced its greatest economic growth. In the final part, he reflects on the structural causes that help explain the persistence of inequality and poverty today This lecture was recorded on April 30, 2014, and is part of the series The Historian in the Face of History 2014. "La economía mexicana en el siglo XX ofrece un análisis de los principales ciclos económicos que marcaron el devenir del país a lo largo de ese siglo, partiendo de la Revolución Mexicana. El doctor Enrique Lomelí destaca que, paradójicamente, este periodo no ha sido suficientemente estudiado. Durante la conferencia, centra su atención en los años comprendidos entre 1933 y 1982, etapa en la que México experimentó su mayor crecimiento económico.
