Identidad mexicoamericana: memoria e inclusión

Abstract

Este ensayo analiza la construcción de la identidad méxicoamericana en el contexto de los Estados Unidos durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX, poniendo especial atención en los procesos de migración, arraigo, y resignificación identitaria. A partir de fuentes historiográficas, censales y testimoniales, se examinan las denominaciones “chicano”, “hispano”, “latino” y “mexicoamericano”, mostrando cómo estas categorías han respondido a contextos históricos, factores étnicos y procesos de inclusión/exclusión. La autora destaca cómo la memoria colectiva ha sido un mecanismo clave para articular la pertenencia cultural y política de esta población diversa.
