Paleografía y traducción del décimo tercer capítulo del libro I del Códice florentino que trata del dios Xiuhtecuhtli

Abstract

This article presents the paleographic transcription and Spanish translation of Chapter 13 from Book I of the Florentine Codex, focused on Xiuhtecuhtli, the Mexica god of fire. The study examines the work of Bernardino de Sahagún in collaboration with Nahua informants and students from the Colegio de Tlatelolco. It explores the linguistic, symbolic, and theological dimensions of the original Nahuatl text, highlighting the role of Xiuhtecuhtli in the indigenous worldview and his presence in ceremonies and rituals

Este estudio presenta la paleografía y traducción al español del capítulo 13 del libro I del Códice florentino, dedicado al dios mexica del fuego Xiuhtecuhtli. A través de un análisis contextual, se expone el desarrollo del trabajo realizado por Sahagún con informantes nahuas y estudiantes del Colegio de Tlatelolco. Se aborda la complejidad doctrinal, simbólica y lingüística del texto original y se examina el papel del dios del fuego en la cosmovisión indígena, así como su representación en las festividades y los rituales
